Aplicabilidad de la ecografía pulmonar en la cardiología moderna y su rol en la pandemia de COVID-19.

Resumen

La ecografía pulmonar consiste en la obtención de imágenes de éste órgano mediante el uso de ultrasonidos. Es, por tanto, una prueba inocua que no utiliza radiación y que no requiere de gran infraestructura, características que la convierten en una técnica reproducible y realizable a pie de cama. El elevado tropismo que tiene la nueva pandemia de COVID-19 por el sistema respiratorio, nos permite utilizar la ecografía pulmonar como herramienta de triaje para anteponernos a potenciales complicaciones, lo mismo en casos sospechosos, positivos, asintomáticos o con sintomatología, ya que conociendo el grado de afección pulmonar de acuerdo a los patrones que se observen en las imágenes adquiridas, permite estratificar según la gravedad y seleccionar si estos pacientes deben ser ingresados en servicios de mayor nivel de atención como unidades de cuidados intensivos, y a la vez evaluar la respuesta al tratamiento.
